LETTERS TO THE EDITOR 140 Ontario St. Bowmanville, Ontario March 23,1984 Dear John; Well, John, as I am writing this letter to you I wonder whether you will print it or not after the letter last week by my so-called complainer W. A. Kerr but as you say in your comments, your columns are open to anyone who wants to write a letter to the editor. I guess that is what you call Freedom of Speech and I thank you for that. I will not comment too much on W, A. Kerr's letter as lie seemed to be taking more of a swipe at you than at me. Maybe at the start of a letter to the editor 1 the signature should appear, then the likes of people like Mr. Kerr would not read the letter, Something like Donna's column which shows a picture at the lop so a person knows who is writing it and if you don't care to read it you turn the page and the same with other articles. But, then again I am glad that Mr. or Mrs. Kerr does read my letters. No doubt they will never agree with me as I probably step on toes somewhere somewhere along the line. So much for that. Back on the local scene, 1 find we now arc faced with an issue in a subdivision which will bring a road as I understand understand beside a person's house within four feet of the house and I now wonder how this is called good planning. I understand understand there was a road allowance already in the area that was 62 feet in width and if my information is right was rejected as being too small and as I understand the new road allowance is 54 feet wide. I guess I do not understand Planning. Some time ago I made mention mention that the mayor was in favour of Pensions and Severance Severance Awards for members of Regional Council, but 1 now read another news item with a picture of the mayor saying that they can't support severance severance pay. It must have been the power of the press that changed their minds. We will have to wait and see where the regional members stand on the salary increase that I am sure will replace the pension issue. Well, there it is for this week even though it is not too much but my source seems to have gone away for a few days so this leads to lack of confidential confidential matters. In closing, I would like to apologize again to W. A. Kerr if I stepped on his toes or the toes of maybe his political friends, but that is the way it is. Yours Truly Ken Hooper On Monday, March 12, Mr. Sub defeated Simcoe Street of Oshawa by a score of 6 - 3. Both teams started out slowly as if they were afraid to make the first mistake. Mr. Sub went into the 3rd period with a 5 -1 lead, but played the 3rd period without any hustle allowing Simcoe Street to get W\_ panmipacrion* For insurance cal I DON IRVINE 623-4482 108 Waverley Rd.
