Mr. Brian Colville was guest speaker at the Kirby United Church Sunday morning. Mr. Colville is teaching high school in Bowmanville. Our sincere sympathy to Mrs. Frances Van Weiringen and family, Pontypool, on the sudden passing of their husband and father, Harry, last week. He was quite well known in this area as he did carpenter work for many in the district. We are sorry to report several cases of vandalism in the village, several break-ins into houses, garages and damages to our local post office. The objective being $40 million for all of Canada. This sum is over and above the M. and S. givings and will go to assist New Congregations; for new buildings; buildings; to assist existing areas where more facilities are needed and to assist with pensions pensions that were set up prior to 1955; and of course very inconsistent inconsistent with today's high cost of living. This money is expected only from individual givings and not organizations. The Anglican Church (AIM) have already completed their goal for extra monies. Presbyterial and is first vice-president of Bay of Quinte Conference Women. Mrs. Minifie was one of two delegates from the Bay of Quinte Conference to be a delegate to visit Mexico, for Mission and Outreach. Mexico is very overpopulated and almost one-half the population live in poverty. The delegates visited many other. Christian groups who are working with the poor and oppressed. Clean water is one of the top needs of the country, as so many waterways are polluted. Despite the unclean water, one was so amazed to see the lines of spotless washing washing hung in the sun. An interesting display of hand made items was much enjoyed by f everyone.
