Highest earning earning for a group entry was won by Hoskin Stables with earnings of $2552.50. Youth- 16 and under- highest- Kacky Turkocio, of Sandlewood Stables, Hampton, with $268.25. Second- Keith Reid of Hoskin Stables with $148.75. Honourable mentions in the single entry entry class went to Judy Pell and Janet Farnell. In the group honourable mentions went to Sandlewood Stables, to the Ontario Trail Riders and to the Country Road Riders. The remainder remainder of the afternoon was spent enjoying watching watching a video of the Open House and another film followed by lunch. Sympathy of the community community is extended to Bob and Diane Gatchell, Terry, Jackie and David on the passing of their sdn and brother Dennis Gatchell as a result of injuries injuries suffered in the truck accident last Sunday Sunday night. Special music was provided provided by the "Tunettes" a ladies' quartette from Scugog Island. Guest speaker was former Cartwright resident Rev. Afterward, a light lunch and a fellowship time was enjoyed by many who attended this service marking the 96th anniversary of the sanctuary. sanctuary. On Saturday, a busload of local residents enjoyed a day of shopping shopping at the Factory outlets in the Kitchener and Waterloo area. As well the group enjoyed visiting the famous Kitchener Kitchener Farmer's Market. From all reports, it was a long but enjoyable day. A number of people from the Blackstock area attended the Durham 4-H Agricultural Awards Banquet on Oct. 28 at the Maple Grove United Church. Many of the 4-H's from this area received awards. Brent McLaughlin received the Spruceholm Charolais Award for the Top Junior Beef Member in 1983. Deb Van Camp received the Thistle Valley Award for the member showing the Top Lamb in the show. Lynn McLaughlin received the Durham Pork Producers' Award for the Top Member of the Swine Club for 1983. Robert Green received the Farm Credit Corporation Corporation Award for being the club member scoring the highest total points at the Regional 4-H Financial Financial Management Competition. Competition. Brent McLaughlin was on the Top Judging Team at the Judging Competition, and that team received the Federation of Agriculture Award. Deb Van Camp received the Durham County Grand Champion Livestock Showperson for being the winner of the Inter-club 4-H Showmanship Competition Competition held at Durham Central Fair. The top team in the Durham 4-H Reach for the Top Competition Competition was the Farm Safety team consisting of: Lynn McLaughlin, Marilyn Green, Glen Degeer ai.d ..Nataiie Green - that team received received the Durham Junior Farmers Award. These young people were presented a plaque for being in 4-H for the first time: Bryan Green, Natalie Green and Jason Kyte. Jeff Byers and Glen Degeer wre presented with a certificate certificate for completing six projects or more. Robert Green, Lynn McLaughlin and Deb Van Camp were presented with a certificate certificate for completing twelve projects or more. Deb Van Camp received first place for the Secretary of the Year, Nancy Green received second place for Press Reporter of the Year. The Ted Buttery Memorial Award was received by Marilyn Green, The Awards Banquet wrapped up this year for the Durham East Agricultural 4-H Program. The Lion's Club will be holding their annual Turkey Roll on Saturday, Nov. 12th at 7:30 p.m. at the Nestleton Hall. Ladies are welcome.
