PONTYPOOL Pontypool Community Centre was filled on Saturday Saturday night for a dance for the Pontypool - Bethany Men's Ball teams. The Bethany gents took home the McCullough McCullough Memorial Trophy with Harvey Hamilton receiving receiving his team's M.V.P. award. Each of the Bethany players was presented with individual trophies. Pontypool Pontypool players will receive their awards at a later date. On Sunday evening, the annual Thankoffering Service Service was held in Pontypool United Church at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Wm. Piercy, who left the Bethany - Pontypool pastoral charge in 1969 was the guest speaker. Rev. Piercy, now retired, is planning planning on building a new home just south of Millbrook. During the service service the choir, assisted by Mrs. Shirley Scott and daughter, Allison, of Janet- ville, provided two special numbers, "Whispering Hope" and "Great is Thy Faithfulness". Some cases of flu have been reported in the village. village. Bert Frape was quite ill with it this past week and on Sunday, Curtis McKay was confined to bed. Everyone missed Curtis in his regular pew at church on Sunday. Mrs. Bob Bolton also was absent from the choir on Sunday because of illness. Get well wishes are sent to Mrs. Frank Stacey who underwent eye surgery this week, also to Manvers Councillor Councillor Terry Staples who is in hospital at present time. Jane Guthenberg arrived home on the weekend following following surgery in hospital in Ottawa. She has to visit her doctor again on Tuesday. Tuesday.
