! 6 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, November 2,1983 Blackstock Section Two A very serious accident accident occurred on Purple Hill Road on the top of Degeer's Hill on Sunday* evening. Dennis Gatchell of our area was seriously seriously injured and is in Sun- nybrook Hospital. The driver of the other truck, Mr. Gray was killed. Thoughts of the community community are with all family family members at this difficult difficult time. Glad to report that Ralph Larmer is progressing progressing very well following hip surgery and hopes to be home from Oshawa Hospital early this week. Frank and Diane Tobin, Kim and Robert came home on Saturday from a most delightful family holiday in Florida. They spend a week enjoying tours of the many highlights of that area. Over the weekend, Beth Schryburt participated participated in the play "What Glorious Times They Had" in Oshawa. Several from the area enjoyed attending this production. Over 185 gathered at the Blackstock United Church on Tues., Oct. 25 for the Oshawa Presbytery U.C.W Rally. Special speaker was Evelyn Locke of Springfield, near Peterborough. Peterborough. The luncheon was provided by the combined efforts of the Blackstock U.C.W. and A.C.W. The day was a very worthwhile and inspirational inspirational one for all who attended. Quite a number from Blackstock attended the Anniversary service of Nestleton United Church on Sunday morning when guest speaker was Rev. John Smith. Next Sunday will be the anniversary service here at Blackstock at 10 a.m. with Rev. Harry Atkinson, Atkinson, special speaker with special music provided by the Tunettes, a ladies' quartette. Bring your sandwiches and plan to stay for lunch afterward. Last call for the U.C.W. bus trip to the shopping outlets and Farmer's Market in Kitchener-Water loo. All organizations are busy getting ready for when the ice is installed. The Minor Hockey is having another registration registration on Wed. Nov. 3,6:30 to 8 p.m. All parents are urged to look for the many missing sweaters and socks that still have not been returned. It is essential that they be found and returned as soon as possible. There will be an executive meeting following registration at 8 p.m. All parents are welcome to attend this meeting at the arena on Wed. evening. Ingrid Larmer was guest speaker for this meeting which was attended by delegates from the twenty-two fairs in the district. Joyce Kelly was elected Lady Director, which is a first for Blackstock Fair.
