Presbyterial Fall Rally The Fall Rally was held this year in Blackstock United Church with approximately 180 U.C.W. members and guests in attendance. Eileen McLaughlin, president of Blackstock U.C.W. brought greetings to all and Mrs. Bob Anne Dickson, president of Oshawa Presbyterial Women introduced the executive. Several excellent speakers on the morning agenda included Miss Linda Rivard, from South Oshawa Community project; Mrs. Evelyn Redpath gave a report on V.I.M. (Ventures in Mission) ; and Betty Turcotte gave a very inspirational message on "Discipleship." Greetings were brought from Rev. Dale Davis, Black- stock on behalf of the host church, and Rev. B. Batstone from Oshawa Presbyterial. The overflow crowd were divided for dinner and part of the crowd were fed at the neighboring Anglican church. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the church chimes, and the Christian fellowship of the noon hour. A lively sing song commenced commenced the afternoon sessions and roll call was answered by quite a goodly number of U.C.W.'s and the worship service service was given by Enniskillen. Tyrone U.C.W. ladies introduced introduced the guest speaker of the afternoon Mrs. Evelyn Locke, Springfield. Locke, Springfield. Challice, Challice, Olive Millson and Gladys Gambsy. Orono United Church News The church enjoyed a very large attendance on Sunday morning to celebrate our 121st anniversary. The beautiful flowers were placed in loving memory of the late Mrs. Geraldine McDonald of Leskard. Rev. John Peters, Trinity • United Church, Bowmanville, was the guest speaker, and the special music was supplied by the "Horseless Carriage- men," Oshawa. This is a large group of men (40) dedicated to Barbershopper singing and bringing an excellent choice of music which was much enjoyed enjoyed by the large crowd. They were served a delicious lunch downstairs, following the service. Rev. Peters brought a very enjoyable story to the children about a little stone in your shoe, and how it seems to grow much larger as you walk. Mr. James Brownlee gave the scripture readings. There is but one reminder left of the 100 years past and that is the large chestnut tree at the corner of the church property. This tree was planted planted in 1862 and still gives the little folk many fun filled hours, gathering chestnuts, and also the squirrels their winter hoards. Our annual turkey supper was a sell -out success and we were sorry to turn away people at the door. Kirby U.C.W. are preparing for their annual church bazaar this Saturday, Nov. 5, 2 - 4 p.m. in Orono Church main hall.
