Dakin's Squad Finally Wins One In Foresters' Softball League Hi! My name is Kyle, first son of Bruce and Pam Welsh. It was my first birthday on June 8,1983. Proud grandparents are Bob and Nancy Mackay and Doris and the late Jack Welsh. Hampton Soccer News By Don Dakin It took two extra innings and a lot of tense moments, but Milt Dakin's team finally finally won a game in the Canadian Foresters Softball League. With Dakin and Buchanan tied at 14 in the bottom of the ninth and Dale Bubar on second with two out, Randy Pollard hit a high line drive down first. Scott Yeo made a good play and almost caught the hit, but it made it through for a single. The throw to the plate couldn't be held onto and Dale scored giving Dakin their first win in five games. Dakin's offence was led by Gord Langley who went three for four with five RBI's and by manager Milt Dakin who went three for six with a double and four RBI's. Dale Bubar went one for two. The defensive star of the game was Buchanan's third baseman, Cliff Banks, who made seven putouts. The offensive stars for Buchanan were Dave Magee, who went two for four with a triple and two RBI's and Scott Yeo and Chris Courneyea who both went two for five with two RBI's. Chris also had a double. double. Cliff Banks and Scott Zealand both had a double with three RBI's. The thing that really showed in this game, though, was the sportsmanship sportsmanship shown. Even with the game so close, making tension tension high, both teams were having a good time. After it was over they were all still laughing. It looked like everyone was out to have a good time and it seems everyone did. The other game played on Sunday wasn't even close. Magee's pitchers had trouble from the 3rd inning on and Magee lost 35 to 11. Truax's offence was led by just about everyone who went to the plate. Manager Rick Truax went five for six with six RBI's. Frank Pet- rousky went three for three with two RBI's while Steve Hall and Larry Little both went two for three with five RBI's. Rick Truax pitched four innings and only gave up one earned run. Magee's offense was led by Dan Kennedy Kennedy Who went two for three with two RBI's and by Alvin Yeo who went one for one with two RBI's. George Tre- jbal went one for two with a double and three RBI's while Keith Lee went one for two with a double and one RBI. The next games will be played on Sun.day.July 10th at Lord Elgin Park at 1:30 p.m. It will be Jones Truax and Buchanan Magee. vs. vs. Brooking Transport Early Leaders In Town League Softball Schedule TUESDAY, JUNE28th Brooking Transport defeated defeated Kramp's Furniture to the tune of 10 - 2, exploding for six runs in the fifth inning. The second half resulted in three goals for Newcastle. However, this was not indicative of the play, as most of the action was in Newcastle's half of the field and many shots were made on the Newcastle net. Newcastle's Newcastle's goalkeeper, Jasson Derrick, made some excellent saves and thwarted Hampton's Hampton's every attempt to score. Jason Lyle played goalkeeper for Hampton for the second half. This was his first attempt in this position and he was a little nervous and uncertain. Don't get discouraged Jason, it takes a little time to get the feel of the net. In these games, the score doesn't seem significant as the spectators appreciated the efforts of the children on both teams, and the players enjoy learning in a game situation. It is fun!
