On Tuesday, June 28th at 6:00 the Blackstock Recreation Centre was full of teachers, students and parents for the Annual Annual Grade 8 Dinner and Graduation Ceremonies. The Master of Ceremonies was Darryl Bradt who began the evening followed by Nancy Nancy Green who said Grace. Shannon Turnbull toasted the Queen. A delicious roast beef dinner dinner served by the O.N.O. was enjoyed by all those present. After the dinner, the presentation of Awards and Diplomas began. Rev. S. McEntyre, Mr. G. Paisley, Mr. J. Gradish and Mr. J. Hinch all said a few words before the awards were presented. Next Mr. Fis presented Paul Dearborn Dearborn with the English Award; Mr. Dean presented Clair MacKenzie MacKenzie with the Mathematics; Art Award presented to Shawn Barrabell by Mr. Kitchen; Leanne MacDonald MacDonald was presented with the Science Award by Mr. Fis; Miss Love presented Caren Turner with the Music Award; Ken Wilson won the Geography Award which was presented by Mr. Brown; Mrs. Rink presented Dawn Roberts with the French Award; Nancy Green was presented the History Award by Miss Love; The Unsung Hero was Ken Weir and the award was presented by Mr. Dean; The Citizenship Award was awarded to Kevin Cearns by Mr. Hinch. The most improved improved students were- David Tomnkins and Beth Russell and the award donated by Court Lady Snowbird and presented by Mr. Fis. Janet Cochrane was the student student with the best effort and received the award donated by Nestleton Women's Institute and presented by Mr. Brown. Mrs. D. Venning presented the Academic Achievement t® Clai*-e MacKenzie, After the presentation of the Awards, a dance took place at the Public School.
