In a recent Peterboroûgh competition for athletes from the separate school system, he earned a gold metal for achieving the most points of all the junior boys. Greg scored four firsts in that event. In a subsequent competition among schools in the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Newcastle school system, Greg also earned a gold medal. Then, in an invitational meet for elementary schools, Greg earned a silver medal. The St. Joseph's athlete competes in the 50 metre and 100 metre races as well as the long jump and relay. NEWTONVILLE Mrs. Bea Jones with Mrs. Mary Jones visited Mrs. Harne Britton at Marnwood Nursing Home, Bowmanville, on Tuesday afternoon and also admired the work of the new addition. Close to 400 people were served Friday afternoon to a Beef barbecue at the Church Grounds by the Newtonville congregation. Mrs. Florence McLeod of Oshawa is spending a few days with her brother Mr. Raymond Bruce, Mrs. Helen Armstrong and family of Millbrook. were dinner guests on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs, Glenn Stapleton and family. Several attended the Jack and Jill Party for Miss Linda Burgess and Mr. Ralph Hale at Brownsdaie Community Centre Saturday evening, Sunday afternoon guests with Mr. and Mrs. Maurice O'Neill were Mr. and Mrs. John Goheen. Mrs. Doris Sinclair Todd and Tara of Starkville, Mr. Owen Skinkle and Andrea Harris of Port Hope attended the Church Bar-b-que and were callers afterwards with Mr. and Mrs. Reid Wood. Congratulations to Mrs. Tobin Brown who last week received her R.N. certificate from Sir Sandford Fleming College at Peterborough. Mrs. Bea Jones and Mrs. Mary Jones attended the Retirement Retirement Party for Mrs. Beryl Cruse at Greenwood Towers of Port Hope on Wednesday evening. Mr. Kris Rutledge of Port Hope is spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Stapleton. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wood of Whitby were callers Friday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Reid Wood. They then returned to the Pines for their dance and lunch. As is the tradition each graduate had the first dance with their parent. Mr. and Mrs. Trueman Henderson visited Mr. and Mrs. Moreton Henderson of Morrish on Saturday evening. Enniskillen Mr. and Mrs. Len Stainton accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. A. Nielsen were Monday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. David Stainton and family and attended Michael's Graduation. Miss Lee Ann Werry and Mr. Art Cornier visited with Mr, and Mrs. David Cecchetto and sons. A number from here attended attended Haydon Salad Supper on Friday night. Mr, and Mrs, R. Granberg, Stoney Creek are holidaying with Mr. and Mrs. Dick Howe. Mrs, Len Stainton, Mr, and Mrs. Edgar Wright and Betty attended and enjoyed the senior citizens' choir prefor- mance at Parkwooa on Sunday. Mrs Muriel Weaving, Ancaster spent the holiday weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Beckett, Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs, Dick Howe were Mr. and Mrs. Norman Howe and family, Whitby and Mr. and Mrs. Tim Howe along with the Granbergs from Stoney Creek. A former Burketori resident, Mrs, Rev. Ed McCaig and family, Bristol, Quebec, attended the Tyrone church service on Sunday, Mrs, McCaig is the former Bernice Grace. She and her family are visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry Grace, Burketon. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Werry and Sandra were Sunday evening supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Werry celebrating celebrating Allan and Diane's wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Piggott and family visited Cherry Valley on the weekend, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Werry spent Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hanewich, Oshawa. Sincere sympathy is extended extended to Mr. ana Mrs. Herbert Wright (nee Eileen Gorrell), Oshawa oh the recent death of her sister Olive. Miss Nikki Lafave is visiting with friends in Erin.
