Meeting Five members from the Nestleton U.C.W. attended the meeting of the Head Church U.C.W. on Scugog Island, Wed. evening, held in Grace Church with approximately approximately forty present for the splendid meeting. meeting. President Jan Gerrow extended a friendly welcome to all. It was good to have a visit with many friends from the Scugog and Manchester members. Mr. Stanley Malcolm, Port Perry, is spending a few days recuperating since surgery - at the home of son, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Malcolm Malcolm in Nestleton. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. L. Malcolm Malcolm on the birth of another lovely granddaughter, granddaughter, Martha May Gwendolyn, daughter of Jim and Bonnie Bilton of Lanark, born on Saturday, July 2nd. / On - Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Grahame Fish had supper with Mrs. Mary Jane Wilson at Lake Dalrymple and later visited with Mr. and Mrs. Marshall McNeil who live at the Lake as well, having built a lovely new home there. An enjoyable visit for Grahame and Neta. Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Leishman, Michael, Jamie, & W.D. Reaboro, were supper guests with Grahame and Neta. Euchre Results For the Wed. evening card party the winners are as follows: 1. A1 Cormack-90; 2. Dorothy Edwards -83; Low - Faith Lawrence-49. Lou Bandel had 17 lone hands for the month of June. Congratulations to all. Wed. evening as usual for fun and an exciting night out. TTie Churches At the Community Church in Caesarea an average attendance for the holiday weekend. No Sunday School so having a joint service. Rev. W.H. Crawford used as his theme, "Practise being a better Christian", taken from I Timothy 4:8. Mrs. Crawford was organist. Next Sunday two services will be held -11 a.m. and Sunday evening July 10, at 7 p.m. Welcome to the Country Church. A combined outdoor service of Blackstock and Nestleton was held on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at the scout camp grounds with a very good attendance. Rev. Dale Davis thoughts re - congregation and children's theme centred around "trees". A fine sing song was a feature with Joan Groves playing the Accordian. Joan and her daughter also rendered a couple of duets. Quite a fine service - by all reports. At the Nestleton Presbyterian church, Re Fred Swann presented presented a summary on the series of sermons on James 5. Notice: the! congregation decided not to have any services, during August. Yelverton and Area News by Harvey Malcolm Eileen and Howard Malcolm flew out to Calgary] Alberta on Friday, Friday, July 1st to spend a few days in that city where Howard will attending a semi annual meeting of the Canadian Pork Council. Mrs. Brenda Malcolm, Jeremy and Jason are scheduled to accompany accompany Mr. and Mrs. Alan Gundry later this week also out to Alberta to spend a few days with Brenda's brother and his wife for a visit. Mrs. Mitzi Fick was honoured on Thursday evening with a Birthday party in her honour on the occasion of her birthday. In attendance were Mitzi and Bob (and Molson) of Ajax, Jane, Marti and Martina Malcolm Malcolm of Omemee, Ronnie Ronnie Sharman of Lindsay and Paw and Maw Malcolm and Mona. x Mrs. Ann Hurren of Yelverton has started her own business enterprise enterprise in Lindsay. On Saturday, July 2nd, Ann opened a Toy store at the east end of Kent Street in Lindsay - the "Pinocchio". Ann has stocked her store with a great assortment of toys, gifts, games and hobbies for the junior set (dolls, building sets, tricycles) - everything under the sun. Our community extends best wishes to Ann in her Opening and for a successful business venture. Last Sunday, Yelverton Yelverton Sunday School held their annual picnic at Murray Malcolm's pond and attendance awards were presented to some 35 Sunday School students. students. Last week end Mr. and Mrs, Terry Malcolm Malcolm attended the wedding for Mr, and Mrs. Paul Larmer in Milton, Ontario on Saturday, Saturday, Likewise, Corrie and Harvey Malcolm attended the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Hal Maskes (nee Beverly Wilhelm) in Kitchener. On Sunday afternoon last Marti and Jane Malcolm and Dionne Martina attended a Jack and Jill party in Scarborough for a girlfriend, girlfriend, Jackie Hanna and her husband to be Mr. Chris Evans. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Malcolm and their grandaughter, Tara, Mr. Murray Malcolm and Ann attended a dancing recital held in Seneca College auditorium auditorium in which Candy Malcolm was an active participant. During the month of July our minister, Mr. Dennis Fransky, will be taking his holidays with his wife and boys. On July 10th a service will be held at Yelverton with Hazel Gray and Janet Spenceley participating participating in the service. On July 17th, the service will be held at Mount Hareb and on July 24 at Janetville. No service on July 31st. All services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Mr. Howard Malcolm recently spent a few days in Quebec City and Ottawa respectively. Our community was shocked to learn of the accident in Port Perry recently which hospitalized hospitalized Mrs. Elgin Gray and killed Master Derrick Wayne Saunders. Mrs. Gray was the former Lorna McMullen, a next door neighbour of ours for many years and is, of course, well known in our community. Also her daughter, Sharon is a resident of the Gray line south of Yelverton. The young lad who lost his life is a nephew of Mrs. Mark (Cathy) Malcolm, our niece from Janetville.
