Proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Dorrell. Quite a number from this area attended the Decoration Service on Sunday afternoon at Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert. Many wonder the connection for such a number of families. It started back in the late 1800's when Bethel Church located at the corner of Purple Hill was a part of the Prince Albert Charge. Thus the common cemetery for the three churches was Prince Albert which has expanded greatly over the years. The Lions Club is happy happy to announce that the ball diamond is ready to use on Monday. The official official opening will be held on July 11th with many dignitaries in attendance. On Saturday June 18, the annula Wilkins Family Family Picnic, of the descendents of May and Morley Wilkins was held at the Bob Bryans farm with about 30 attending. Winners of the guessing guessing games were the newest member- 7 week old Michael Balson, David Killen and Bobbie Ann Fairey. On Sunday, the annual Edgerton Family Picnic was held and attended with members from as far as British Columbia, California and other parts of the United States. For some of these people it was thé first time in Ontario. Mrs. Elsie Hooey accompanied accompanied by her daughter Mrs. Joyce Ross of Ottawa has just returned from a wonderful wonderful three week vacation touring Scotland. Highlights included a visit to Iona, a three day stay at the Isle of Skye where Mrs. Hooey's Father's family originated and the fact they worshipped at St. Giles Presbyterian Cathedral in Edinburgh where they were also able to enjoy Communion. This week, Mjss Sandra Sandra Leighton, a U.K. delegate from England has stayed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kelly Kelly and family. While here, Sandra enjoyed touring some of the local farms and tourist attractions. Cartwright Central Public School closed on Thursday with the "Blackstock Blister" when many students run their choice of 3km, 5km,. or 10km. The participation participation was excellent in spite of the high temperatures. Many classes^held closing parties parties or other festivities. Miss Judy Howsam's class held a barbecue at the home of Mrs. Jessie Gunter. They surprised their teacher with the presentation of the gift of a crystal bell in honour of her upcoming wedding in July. It seems to be becoming becoming a trend in Blackstock to walk fifty miles. For the second time in less than a week, three girls set out on their long journey for their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. This week Julie Bryant, Dawn Bayley and Robynn Ward hiked from Blackstock to Bethany, They, like the first group suffered no ill effects from the walk.
