This was Durham's annual Fine Arts Festival. The many activities activities such as painting, drawing, drawing, pottery, weaving, drafting drafting and mono-painting were taking place under the watchful watchful eye of many guest artists, who helped the students along with new ideas. Besides the guest artists, there were many visitors from the community, even some future Durham students, the grades 7 and 8 classes of Knox Christian School, and Emmanuel Christian Christian School in Oshawa, also paid a visit. This wonderful afternoon was followed by a school baseball baseball tournament at about 4:00. After some hard playing and after burning a lot of energy, the student body and teachers sat down to a delicious formal banquet, organized by the student student council. After the meal we were entertained by some very musically talented students. students. Now, you may think that by the time the gym was cleaned up and the last dishes were put away, that everyone would be pretty tired and be ready to go home. But young people have a lot of energy and so do a lot of teachers, no-one was ready to go home. We all crowded into the library to watch the film 'Cool Hand Luke'. When it was over we were ready to head for home. After working hard, our track and field team was rewarded rewarded when they did a very good job at the Christian School Track Meet. The meet was held in St. Catharines and hosted by Smithville Christian Secondary School. Our senior boys relay came in second. Ev Flim came in second in high jump and 800 m. run. Steve Pel received first in high jump, he jumped 1.8m. Evelyn Stroobach came in second in the 1500 m. run. Our juniors and midgets also did well. Elsa Buma scored first in the 1500 m. run, and second in the 800 m. run. Jeanette Bakker received first in high jump. Margurita Dykstra came in first in triple jump. Jennifer Bronsema set a record in discus when she threw 28.62 m. Brenda Strid- werda jumped second in high jump. Henry Hammers came in second in discus. A hearty congratulations to all on the team. In May our French class took a trip to Quebec. We arrived in Montreal on Thursday Thursday evening, and settled ourselves ourselves in our teacher's former Church where we were able to sleep. Friday was spent in Quebec City. We ran through the city and still didn't have enough time to see it all. Saturday we toured Montreal and saw many churches-I lost count of how many! Sunday it rained, but nothing was going to stop us from doing what we were looking forward to most: I Join Us for Lunch!
