The long awaited government government announcement of regional government plans for this area was made this week. Thus Bowmanville, Newcastle, Newcastle, Darlington and Clarke, will now be known as the Town of Newcastle. The newly elected executive of the Northumberland and Newcastle Chapter of the Association for Bright Children Children (ABC) met Tuesday, May' 17 to begin planning for 1983- 84. The ABC is a provincial non-profit organization comprised comprised of members who are interested in the welfare of bright children. The objective is to help these children learn as much as they can and offer them the opportunity to realize their potential. The local chapter is plan ning to provide a series of children's programs throughout throughout the coming year. The only requirement for a child to participate in these programs is that one adult in the child's family be sufficiently interested interested in the welfare of bright children to join. Annual membership is $17.50. The organization publishes a quarterly newsletter which is distributed to members to keep them informed about current activities and deci sions being made by our educators educators that affect the learning of bright children. West Durham Beavers Enjoy Outing at Enniskillen The weather was perfect on Saturday for a West Durham Beaveree at C.L.O.C.A. Conservation area at Enniskillen and close to 200 Beavers attended the event. Many contests were held, this one a bit messy as blindfolded Beavers tried to feed colleagues across the table by following verbal directions from the recipients. Second photo shows one colony ready to eat their lunch. The Beavers and leaders were most appreciative of the help given them by local business establishments such as Beaver Lumber, the A & P, Stedmans and the Cystic Fibrosis organization, plus other stores. tee'"' :
