Let's hope not because it's frosty out tonight. Mrs. Sylvia Laverty spent Friday evening with her friend Mrs. Pauline Walker, Oshawa. From now on she tells me "sports" will be the order of her life with the children in Tyrone, sports and Mike starting off on Tuesday at Hampton. Mr. and Mrs. J. Jones spent Tuesday evening in Oshawa playing cards with her sister and their son, Mrs. Meta Kellar and Mr. Jim Jones. Mrs. Carol Rusaw visited with her brother Mr. Carl Chatten in Port Perry Saturday Saturday evening. Mrs. Jean Slemon and Blanche Jones took part in the Tyrone U.C.W. Wednesday night. After the business period, conducted by the president, Mrs. Marion Hoar, Jean and Blanche had charge of the Devotional and pro- S am. Hymn 681 "Unto the Us" was sung, then Blanche J. had as her Devotional topic - Religion, What is it? with several different outlooks on the subject. Then she read several short stories on "May" from (the Friendship Book, written by Francis Gay. Hymn 488 "Come let us sing of a Wonderful Love" was sung. Jean called on Pastor Joe Lafave, our guest speaker. He told us how - as a business man, he decided to become a United Church minister. It was a very interesting and enlightening talk. - Many of us have no idea what a change in life style, work, and family life there is sometimes - and an awfully lot of faith it takes for such a change, - but, apparently apparently it was the right choice for him. Jean thanked him and then invited all to come and have lunch and tea. Mr. and Mrs. John Adams visited his sister Mrs. Joyce Sellick Saturday evening and watched the hockey game of the Oshawa Generals and although although the Generals lost, there is to be a Parade in Oshawa and the Adams' intend intend to be present. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Swain and Mrs. Belle Werry, Black- stock called on Weir and Meta Swain, Sunday evening. . Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wood and Aaron of Port Hope were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Trewin and Paul on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Potts lunched with Mrs. Bertha Myles, Colborne on Sunday and then were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Myles, also of Colborne. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Steves and family of Oshawa were callers of Mr. and Mrs. John Adams and family over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jones accompanied Mr. and Mrs. WUbur Blackburn to the Lions Centre on Thursday for the Golden Age Bowling Banquet. The President, Mr. Arnold Lobb expressed a welcome to the North Courtice teachers and children who were guests. He called on Mayor Rickard for a few words and on the principal of the Courtice School who were both Head Table guests. Mr. Jim Cryderman of Courtice presented presented the students with their bowling trophies. Hie winning teams of the Golden Age bowlers were presented presented with their trophies and following pictures, Mr. Lobb called on Mr. Norman Allison to conduct the election of officers. . . A thank you was made to the Lioness ladies for preparing our turkey dinner and to the Lions men for serving it. Bowling starts again in Sept. Mrs. Blanche Jones accom- C ed Mrs. Peggy and Cindy ion Thursday evening to the Acres Restaurant for the Newtonville, Starkville Bowling Bowling Banquet. All of the ladies were in attendance, Following dinner, we had our business. It was decided the officers would be In for two years. Mrs. Joan Adams consented to remain as president as did the secretary, Pat Millson. Our new treasurer treasurer is Jean Fallis and the four captains are Dian Sciuk, Carole Ruiter, Dorilda McCarron and Marlene Stacy. The Oldsmobiles won 1st place - Marlene Stacy, Jean Arnold, Mary Topple, Nadine Trimble, Anne Bickle and Joan Adams. Their prize was a Cruet Set. 2nd place - Pontiacs - Vi Patterson, Cindy Millson, Irene Martin, Dian Sciuk, Pat Osborne and Viola Vander- gaast. They had a gift of money and a corsage. 3rd place - Chevs - Jean Fallis, Peggy Millson, Bernice Henderson, Dorilda McCarron, McCarron, Cathy Adams and Jean O'Neill and their gift was a Ramekin Set in place of a trophy. 4th place - Buicks - Carol Ruiter, Susan Floyd, Olive Henderson, Blanche Jones, Joyce Stacy and Pat Millson chose a set of Ginger Jars. The Chev's won the Play- Offs - Jean O'Neill won the high single for the three night doubles, Bernice and Olive Henderson won the high doubles.
