The Presbyterial Annual meeting for 1984 will be held at Northminster United Church. Diane McKinzey of Manchester Manchester U.C.W. introduced the guest speaker, Bonnie Greene of the Human Rights and International Affairs for the United Church of Canada. Bonnie Greene vividly portrayed portrayed her theme "The Word and the World". In looking back to life as revealed in the Bible, Bonnie described the importance of living as neighbors, neighbors, sharing and caring. God called people to live as a "community". The earth was to be used in a way that "it would not be broken". In Jesus' time, political, military and religious powers were very evident. Even though people became separated separated by "taxation" system, everybody to be faithful to God was called to be charitable. charitable. "Are we living equitably equitably to one another?" was a question then and is a question now. How do we judge our society - is it a world in which people can live together, or is it "controlled" ; is it a world of peace or destruction? One of the major social issues is a lack of "shalom" for all. What role can the church play in our concern for poverty, poverty, unemployment, nuclear The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, March 30, 1983 5 Items of Interest Susan and David Marjerri- son, of Mississauga, spent the March Break with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. A. Marjerrison, of Flett Street.
