The Scarborough students performed at Waverley Public School on Monday morning, February 14 and then went to Ontario Street Public School for an afternoon performance. The synchronized skipping team consists of 16 students It keeps them totally physically fit," said Brian Bones, the teacher in charge of the skippers. This is the third year that the Berner Trail Junior Public School skippers have been working out their routines. The students are all in grades five and six. Langley Consolidated net sales of Goodyear Canada Inc. for the year ended December 31,1982 were $471,931,000 down $70,280,000 or 13.0 percent from $542,211,000 for 1981, it was announced today following following a meeting of the board of directors. Consolidated net loss was $2,447,000 versus the $18,969,000 earned in 1981. Loss per share for the year was $.98, compared with income per share of $7.34 in the previous year. In the fourth quarter, sales of $112,371,000 represented a decrease of $16,374,000 or 12.7 percent lower than the $128,745,000 recorded in 1981. Loss for the quarter was $6,876,000 compared with income of $3,351,000 for the corresponding period last year, a decrease of $10,227,000. "In 1982, Goodyear faced the toughest economic environ -ment we have seen in many years," said C. H. Johnson, president and chief executive officer. "The year was disappointing disappointing in terms of overall performance with the recession recession and, in particular, consumer consumer reluctance to spend being our most formidable obstacle. "Goodyear Canada's aim for 1983 is a business turnaround turnaround despite the state of the overall economy," Johnson added. "If some Canadian economic recovery develops, then so much the better - but we know that we cannot count on any substantial upswing in 1983. "Increased sales, increased market share, new customers, a continuing quality product and ongoing attention to control of expenses will mark the trail we will follow," Johnson concluded. The board of directors today declared the regular quarterly dividend of 50 cents on the four percent preferred shares, payable on April 29, 1983 to shareholders of record on April 8, 1983 and a quarterly divident of 30 cents per common share, payable on March 31,1983 to shareholders of record on March 10, 1983.
