t Gala Show Hotted by Museum and Leisure Lady Displays Old and New Fashions The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, November 10,1982 15 * v/vi wÿwMÊïMïè The Bowmanville Museum and Leisure Lady hosted a gala fashion show at Bowmanville High School on Wednesday night. The stage was elegantly decorated with antiques from the museum and greenery from "Van Belle's Floral Shoppes". Mrs. Kathy Lyons commented on old fashions being modelled and new fashions alike. Two dance numbers were beautifully choreographed and danced by Lynn Rupa and Michelle Lyons. Starting off with sportswear, including tweeds and wools, the night continued with intervals of 1880 costumes, up to the roaring 1920's. The show ended with glittering evening wear, where black, white and silver were predominant. Hair was fashionably done by "Duncan's Hair Design" and makeup by "Beautifully Yours, both of Bowmanville. Mixed Curling Section Holds Successful Hallowe'en Bonspiel The Bowmanville Mixed Curling section held a very successful and enjoyable Hallowe'en Hallowe'en Bonspiel on Saturday, October 30th. Before the curling got underway, ice numbers were slipped into apples and each skip was asked to "bob" for an apple to see what ice they would play on. This resulted in a few wet faces and beards. When the spiel was all over, the team of Rod Stork, Ellen Barberry and Don Scott were the winners. Second place went to Doug Menzie, Kay Ormiston, Gord Gilmour and Collette Trudeau. Taking 3rd place was Del Watson, Lil Hooper and Stan Green. Fourth place went to Alec Waters, Jane Boyce, A1 Par- berry and Sandy Healey. Prizes were in the form of food with steaks, wine, cheese, apples and apple cider. Our thanks to Fred's Fruit Market who donated the apple cider. After the two draws of curling curling were over, we all went home to pass out candy to the "trick or treaters," arriving back in our finest Hallowe'en costumes for the dance at 9:00 p.m. At midnight, à "delictotis' lunch was served by the club. Our next mixed spiel at the Curling Club will be the La- batt's Super Spiel on December December 3rd and 4th with a trip to Las Vegas as top prize. PAKE your wife JT IN THAT? Oil...BETTER GET MAACO. By the end of the second period, some of the fans in attendance could be heard roaring something something like ARRR - GOES. Without several of their good players and with Sammy Allin hurt, Cowans were pummelled 11-2. For Bolahoods, there were numerous good performances. Rick Woolner, Joe Humenick, Phil Manganelli and Doug Leddy all moved the puck well. Mike Cornell took great enjoyment in firing three goals past arch rival Scott Burgess. The second game, a 7-6 win for Walter Franks over Spencers Spencers was a close high scoring game. Franks took an early lead, but barely managed to hold on as Spencers, led by the Newcastle duo of Brian Allin and Louie Anderson, came to within one break of tying the game. Leading Franks was the line of Barry Fenton (2 goals, 2 assists) and Tim Jenkins (2 goals, 1 assist). Also scoring were Sam Elliott (1 assist), Wray Rendell (2 assists), Dex Osmond (1 assist), Randy Masterson (2 assists), Tom Connell (3 goals) and Mark Starkey (1 assist).
