Thursday, October 14, business admini strator James Bird noted that the inmates came from the Cobourg and Whitby jails to perform maintenance work around school properties. They undertook tasks which would not normally be undertaken undertaken by school board maintenance maintenance staff. Mr. Bird indicated that the total number of man hours supplied by the inmates was 944.5. They were employed at Bowmanville High School, Mitchell's Corners Public School, M. J. Hobbs Senior Public School, Ontario Street Public School, Orono Public School, Courtice Secondary School, Maple Grove West, Hampton Jr. Public School, and Kirby Public School.
