Families in the News Mrs. Minnie Fisher, Caesarea, accompanied her son Delton and Marge Fisher of West Hill on Saturday to the home of her other son Barry and Frances Fisher, Leanne and Susan of London, Ontario for a festive Thanksgiving Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday, returning home the following day. Several Nestleton Women's Institute members attended the Fun Fair held at Solina on Tues, afternoon. All report a most enjoyable event. Nestleton W.I. The Nestleton Branch met in the Community Centre on Wed. Oct. 6th at 1:30 p.m. First vice-president Mrs. Norma Frew presided for the meeting welcoming the 1.3 members present and opened with the Ode, Mary Stewart Collect and a poem entitled "A busy world we live in". Mrs. Winnifred Davison was the pianist. Minutes were read by Sec.- treas. Mrs. 'Marg. France and approved. An excellent financial statement was given. During correspondence correspondence an invitation was received from Blackstock W.I. to attend their meeting on Nov. 10. Cards were signed for the ill and-a sympathy card for. Mrs. Firlit who lost her husband recently. Roll Call "Who, What, Where outside Canada interest you"? was well answered. Business Portion The Central Ontario Area Women's Institute Convention Convention will be held November 2nd and 3rd at the Royal York Hotel, Toronto. The Workshop "Foods for all seasons" will be held in Nestleton Community Centre, Oct. 26 at 11 a.m. with leaders Mrs. Rita Wygerde and Mrs. Marguerite Marguerite Beacock in charge. Bring a sandwich for noon. All welcome. Mrs. Winnifred Davison reported re the , executive meeting of Durham West district, held at the home of the Dis. Pres. Mrs. Watson of Solina. Program Mrs. Norma Frew, citizenship citizenship and world affairs convener convener presented the program. The motto"People born into freedom do not appreciate its value". She mentioned the new Constitution Constitution bringing Canada to full Nationhood, 115 years after the first Act of Confederation Mrs. Doris Rohrer gave a splendid reading "Are we losing our pioneer spirit"? Mrs. Marg France concluded concluded the program part by a reading "September sweet song". Meeting adjourned with "O Canada" and the Women's Institute Grace. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Norma Frew and Mrs. Doris Rohrer and members enjoyed a social time. Appreciation was expressed to those participating participating by Mrs. Grace Jackson. Next meeting Nov. 3rd will be held at the home of Mrs. Merle Heintzman. Welcome to all to attend. Cub Activities Saturday, Oct. 16th, the cubs and scouts were in this area calling door to door for the annual "Apple Day". They wish to thank the community community for their support. In the evening the annual father and son banquet was held in Blackstock Rec. Centre. Donna Schnavel did a terrific job of preparing and serving a delicious dinner aided by the ladies' auxiliary. Speeches from section leaders and presentations presentations of awards followed. Stephen Dearborn received "best cub of the year" and "the five star general" awards for Cartwright B pack. The evening concluded with a very enjoyable magic show presented by Don Masterson of Blackstock. Congratulations. Family News Miss Laurie Malcolm is visiting her parents and other family members in the Nestleton area. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Vanden Bosch, Cobourg were Sunday callers with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Malcolm, Lawrence and Gwendolyn visited Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wygerde recently and enjoyed seeing their pictures of Holland taken lately while over when Joe's parents were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. anniversary.
