Last week I reported it was (or sale for only $200.00. It was the W.I. Quilt that is for sale so rest your feathers ladies, your W.I. is safe for a little while longer. Plans are well underway for the Ranger Fashion Show this Thursday. It was decided at the last Ranger meeting that the Rangers would model Chandelle Fashions once again. Come on out Thursday at the C.E. Room in the United Church and support your Rangers. Twenty-one young people attended the first Young People's Meeting in the form of a weiner roast on Friday at.the United Church. It was decided that we would give the group a change. Our next meeting will be on Sunday, October 31st. Anyone wishing wishing to attend is welcome, just show up in a costume and arrive at the church at 8 p.m. There was an excellent crowd at the Blackstock United Church on Sunday when the beautiful memorial window was dedicated in memory of Pearl Bilbey (nee Wright). It had been donated by her husband, Dr. Douglas Bilbey. The Senior Choir sang a lovely anthem entitl- ed"Count It all Joy" with Mrs. Eileen McLaughlin as soloist. Rev. D. Davis' sermon on The Good Samaritan Samaritan was very thought provoking. provoking. Next Sunday will be the Sacrament of Baptism and Youth Sunday. On Sunday evening the Stewards sponsored an evening evening of slides presented by Dale VanCamp of his recent trip to Europe. These pictures showed the agricultural agricultural viewpoint of the British Isles and Europe. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wright entertained Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Holmes of Oshawa and Mrs. Rupert Byers of Bowmanville at a luncheon after Church. Blackstock Nursery School Blackstock Nursery School held their second meeting of the year on Tuesday, Oct. 12, with 30 members present. The week before Hallowe'en the Nursery School children will be going for a walk to get a pumpkin. The week of Halloween they will be having parties in their classes. Children may dress up simply with no masks. There will be Show 'n Tell on Nov. 9,10 and 11. At our next meeting Tuesday, Nov. 9, we will be making Com Husk DoHs. The meeting will be held at 7:30. A committee was set up to make a float for the Port Perry Santa Claus Parade on Nov. 27. A committee committee was also formed to plan our Pancake Breakfast with Santa, tentatively on Dec. 5th. The Children's Christmas Christmas Party will be held on Dec. 17. A committee was also formed to plan this event. Preparations are almost complete for our Oktoberfest Dance. If you still need tickets contact Marlene McKee at 986-5264. See you there! The Blackstock Bread Bunds judged their 100 per cent Whole Wheat Bread on Thursday. They made spiral twists, hot dog buns, donuts, daisies and kolaches. They also made plans on who to invite to their party on Tues. Welcome home Mr. and Mrs. Harvey McDiarmid who returned from a relaxing relaxing week in sunny Cuba. Hope you enjoyed your trip. Sorry to have to report that former resident Mrs. Ruth Wilson is hospitalized in Port Perry Hospital. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kelly and family were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Feltis, Cheryl, Randy and Peter of Sebright, The Senior Citizen's Euchre Party was held on Tuesday with 12 tables and the following winners: 1- Susie Harris 86; 2-Elva Van Camp 86; 3-Ruby Tripp 79; 4-Ann Manns 76; 5-A, Timms 75; 6-Myrtle Gimblett 72; Jennie Bailey Low. The draws were won by l-Elwood Tripp; 2-Dorothy McDiarmit and 3-Lionel Byam. This week the Cartwright Central Public School's Grades 5 and 6 students will be spending several days at Camp Samac. Also this past week our Public School was represented represented at a CROSS Country meet in Uxbridge. Cartwright placed third overall and proceeded to the finals. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Strong have returned home from a most enjoyable holiday in the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean. Mrs, Roy Taylor spent Thanksgiving at Mr. and Mrs, Anson Teylor's country home on Lake Muskoka. The following Friday, Mrs. and Mrs. Anson Taylor were guests at his mothers, Mrs. Roy Taylor.
