PM's Youth Council engages young Canadians continued from p.6 confidence thanks to their summer work experience. Our government places a high priority on involving and engaging young Canadians in their communities and the issues that impact them. One of the ways we are doing that is through the Prime Minister's Youth Council. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said, "young voices must be part of our decision-making process" and he invited Canadians between the ages of 16-24 to apply to become a member of the Youth Council, which will advise the Prime Minister on issues, such as employment, access to education, building stronger communities, climate change and clean growth. Young people are powerful and essential in creating change. They bring new ideas and optimistic perspectives on how to solve the greatest problems that the world faces. I want to make sure, at its highest levels, our government understands and addresses the needs of Canada's youths and looks to young Canadians for advice on key issues that are important to them, such as employment, education, building a stronger community and climate change. Following the Prime Minister's lead, I am establishing a Youth Advisory Council for students between the ages of 15-19 in my riding that will meet once a month and offer an opportunity for students to have a say in their community and share their perspectives and experiences with leaders and citizens of Oakville and Burlington. It is clear from the current political and social landscape, today's youths crave recognition as equal contributors in shaping our community. In 2006, a law was passed in Ontario to protect these students at school. This law is called Sabrina's law, and states school boards must reduce the risk of exposure to allergens.
