The longtime Oakville resident lost her mother to it 14 years ago and also lost a cousin more recently to the blood-related cancer that affects one's ability to ght infection and disease. "My husband's aunt has also recently been diagnosed with the same cancer and has gone through treatment and is currently in remission, which is great," the mother of two shared with the Oakville Beaver. Her brushes with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma don't end there. O'Hara and her siblings are at higher risk at having the cancer in their lifetime. According to the Canadian Cancer Society, some studies show a higher risk of the devastating disease in people with a rst-degree relative (a parent, brother, sister or child) who has been diagnosed with lymphoma. It's for those reasons she's mobilized her family to participate in the third annual Light the Night Walk in Oakville, which is being held Sept. 10 at Coronation Park, 1426 Lakeshore Rd.
