Comedian makes controversial Pokémon GO video by Rahul Gupta Metroland Media Toronto 5 | Friday, July 22, 2016 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com A viral video comically depicting the pitfalls of playing Pokémon Go in public spaces has run afoul of the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). Pokémon GO Problems features a young man, Mark Correia, engrossed with the hit mobile game as he wanders obliviously through Toronto. Set to the Pokémon theme song, an oblivious Correia painfully collides with doors, street poles and other objects to the shock of passersby -- and the chagrin of mall security guards -- while in search of the elusive digital sprites. Correia is filmed walking up the wrong side of an escalator and crossing live traffic playing the game. But it's one scene in particular, where he walks across some live subway tracks at what looks like Union Station, that has prompted an investigation by the TTC. "We are investigating this. It may involve a fine or charges, I don't know -- will leave that to investigators," TTC spokesperson Brad Ross wrote over email Wednesday, July 20. "Our Mark Correia, a comedian, originally from Oakville, made a viral video poking fun at Pokémon GO players getting too caught up in the game, but as well as going viral, the video attracted the ire of the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).| Facebook biggest fear is people thinking you need to descend to track level to catch a character. So, so dangerous." Correia, originally from Oakville, defended the stupidity displayed in the video as a warning to distracted game players. He told Metroland Media Toronto the subway stunt "took all of five seconds," but didn't elaborate on further details. "We tried to be as safe as we could," said Correia, 20, who describes himself on his personal website as a professionally-trained comedian, actor and magician. "Obviously, people shouldn't be doing this." Correia said he got the idea for a video highlighting the dark side of Pokémon GO from friends. He, and his Noodle Boys production partner, Jason D'Souza, first headed to Harbourfront where, with so many players gathered, it felt like an "epidemic." Then Correia, clad in a Pokémon trainer T-shirt, walked off the Harbourfront pier into Lake Ontario, which is featured in the video. He said he and D'Souza are willing to accept potential consequences as a result of the video, which has garnered more than 340,000 views on Facebook since it was posted Tuesday (July 19). "We face consequences every day for our actions," he said. "It's my job as a comedian to push boundaries."
