Louis Girard and Richard Johnson will join the local LHIN board for three years -- the appointments went into effect earlier in June. "A full complement of skills and members reflecting our local communities support a well-rounded board of directors," said Graeme Goebelle, board chair. "I'm confident that Louis' and Rick's strong business acumen and previous board experience will be invaluable to the strategic decisions made by the Mississauga Halton LHIN Board that are needed to strengthen health care for our residents." Girard is the CEO for UTi Canada and has been the vicechair of the Credit Valley Hospital Board and director of the Wo r k p l a c e Safety Insurance Board. He currently teaches supply chain Richard Johnson logistics at Humber College. Johnson joined the board of Georgetown Hospital in 1992 and was involved in the amalgamation task force to merge Georgetown, Peel Memorial and Etobicoke hospitals in 1998-1999 -- the Georgetown Hospital would later become a part of Halton Healthcare in 2005. Johnson was appointed as the first board chair of the newly-created William Osler Health System, and has served as a board member for the Georgetown and William Osler hospital foundations. This year, the recently retired executive completed his final term on Halton Healthcare's board of directors after 10 years of service.
