"Soapy" Soanes Award Dr. Sol Stern was this year's recipient of the Dr. E.P. "Soapy" Soanes Award. This award was established in recognition of the first Chief of Staff and longstanding member of the Department of Family Medicine at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH). It is awarded to a family physician at OTMH who has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the Hospital and community in the areas of clinical practices, community health, hospital programs, continuing medical education and community involvement. (Joy) Parsons who passed away in 2015. The fund was established in 1987 in recognition of Miss Parsons' 36 year tenure as Executive Director of Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH). The Parsons Bursary fund provides annual bursaries to assist children of OTMH staff with their post-secondary education. Values Inspired Performer (VIP) Awards The new Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital's (OTMH) significant energy conservation efforts were recognized on Friday, June 17, 2016, with representatives from Halton Healthcare, Oakville Hydro, the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), the Town of Oakville and the Province of Ontario on hand for the celebration. With the assistance of Oakville Hydro, Halton Healthcare received a cheque for $922,080 towards energy efficiency equipment at OTMH through an incentive offered by the IESO's Save on Energy High Performance new Construction Program. The program provides design assistance and incentives for building owners and planners who design and implement energy efficient equipment within their new space. "The new OTMH is a thoughtfully designed, state-of-the-art centre of healthcare excellence. It is very energy efficient, incorporating many innovative technologies to reduce its environmental footprint. This incentive award is evidence of our commitment to the environment.
