The Bronte BIA is hosting its annual Canada Day festivities at Bronte's Heritage Waterfront Park July 1, featuring family-friendly activities, live entertainment, a vendor village and a reworks display off the Bronte Pier at 10:15 p.m. Bronte BIA Executive Director Ann Sargent said they're continuing a tradition that began more than 50 years ago as a way of celebrating Canada's birthday by Oakville's waterfront. She described how since she began helping organize the event in 2008, she's witnessed it grow from attracting about 5,000 people to about 65,000 people throughout the course of the day. It's also been named the seventh best festival in Ontario and 22nd in Canada in a nationwide WestJet customer contest, she boasted. see Something on p.5 The nal day of the fth annual The Co-operators Oakville Family Ribfest culminated with the crowning of the Best Sauce and Best Ribs as voted on by ribfest attendees.
