St Paul’s to hold open house Sept. 26 Five years after a devastating fire, St. Paul's United Church is throwing open the doors of its refurbished sanctuary and community building. An open house is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, 8 am. to noon, to coincide with the farmers’ market. Child-friendly activities will be held on the front lawn including a bouncy castle, face-painting and animal balloons. “While St. Paul’s United Church is a well- known historic site at 123 Main St. East, the new building is about more than bricks and mortar," said Sue Butson, chair of the church council. ”It’s about a living, breathing commu- nity. Autumn is a great time to promote our family-based programs, the Annex service and the many groups that congregate in our space. We’re also excited about introducing our youthful minister, Rev. Tyler Powell.” For history buffs, the building tour will include highlights such as the restored woodwork in the balcony and the rose window. For music lovers, don't miss the restored pipe organ and musical entertainment throughout the morn- ing. Exercise enthusiasts can check out demonâ€" strations by a Tai Chi master. The community building will house displays from many com- munity groups who rent space such as Alco- holics Anonymous and the Girl Guides. It’s also home to the Montessori school on the second floor with views ofthe Niagara escarp- ment. Those who can’t attend the open house are welcome to drop in for coffee Friday morning sat 10:30 am.
