E Milton Transitional Housing (MTH) is the reâ€" 2 cipient of a $218, 000 grant to be spread out a over three years The grant. which covers 2 roughly 30 per cent of MTH’s annual oper- ‘ating budget. will go towards more hous- 3 ing units expanding service, increased staff 3 members and raising awareness. 5’ More affordable housing options are coming ; According to the non- proï¬t agency, the O grant will allow MTH to grow from three to '5‘ 10 supported housing units by the end of _2018, with two new units being added in E 2015,2016 and 2017 and a ï¬nal one in 2018. 8 It will also pay for a case manager salary to support new members of the MTH program, as well as a part-time program manager and bookkeeper/administrative assistant. A publicity strategy is also underway to help MTH raise awareness of the growing probâ€" lem of homelessness in Milton and Halton. Established in 2011, MTH has helped those in a housing crisis ï¬nd accommodations through counseling sessions, providing shel- ter, developing life skills and nurturing self- conï¬dence. Last year, MTH had three â€graduating clients†last year - moving from temporary accom- modations to longâ€"term housing.
