January 1921 Two hundred and twenty-ï¬ve members of the U.F.O. and invited guests sat down to the banquet in honor of Hon. E.C. Drury at the town hall last Friday evening. The number was limited by the seating space. The tables were laden with a great variety of delicacies, all supplied by the farmers’ wives and daughters and doing them inï¬nite cred- it, as did the table decorations. Young ladies and young men from the farms were the waiters and the service could not have been better. - Among the guests were Dr. R.K. Anderson, M.P., Judge Elliot, Mayor Earl, a number of members of the county council, the local bank managers, Mr. Denyes, P5.l., Drs. Gow- land, McColl and King, and the editors of the local newspapers. Most of the guests were accompanied by Hundreds of United Farmers of Ontan'o members tum outto honour E.C. Drury MILTON TIME C their wives. The guest of the evening, who was accompanied by his wife, was welcomed by enthusiastic, prolonged cheering. Mr. Drury's speech was statesmanlike and made a great impression on all his hearers, the guests as well as his followers. He was frequently interrupted by applause. There was no appearance of the schism which is reported from the Toronto U.F.O. headquarters. Hon. EC. and Mrs. Drury were guests of Dr. and Mrs. M.E. Gowland over last Friday evening and night. Milton’s fine new high school was opened in- formally on Monday morning with short ad- dresses by trustees. The formal opening will come off at a date not yet ï¬xed. The building has cost a great deal of money, but it is com- modlous, modern in every way and a credit to the town.
