A long-time Milton resident and for- mer elementary school teacher, Halk was presented with a framed cer- tificate at Milton Council on June 22 from the Ontario Seniors’ Secretariat. Halk has been involved in several community organizations, includ- ing the executive committee of the Ontario Senior Games Association, Halton District 21 and was a found- ing member of both the Milton Run- ners group and the Milton Ontario Women's Triathlon. “Petra's dedication to sport and rec- reation has kept Miltonians moving, and I truly appreciate her passion and commitment," said Milton Mayor Gord Krantz. Halk, who was a triathlon runner and completed 56 marathons, including one in every state of the U.S., is be- hind pickle ball in Milton as well. Six years ago, she arranged for grant sub- sidies to get the sport going.
