Dear Editor: While it's great news that the Ontario govern- ment is moving forward with the addition to the current Milton District Hospital to serve our growing community, I'm troubled about the number of new beds being added. While I'm not a health care expert, I am well- versed at math. The current hospital has 63 beds in 125,000 square feet of space. The addition is only add- ing 66 more beds in 330,000 more square feet. While I'm sure that we need more working room in all hospital departments and the creation of an expanded outpatient care program or what- ever else, l would have liked to see more full- time beds. ls there no way to squeeze in another 100 beds in that 330,000-square-foot building? How about adding more hospital beds? Fred Pritchard Moffat Act 0f kindness very much appreciated DearEditor: Recently, I had “over-shopped" at Food Basics and was taking a rest as I hauled my 20-plus pounds of groceries home. A gentleman very kindly stopped his car and practically insisted that he give me a lift home. While l didn't accept as l was literally 100 feet away from my house, I was very appreciative of his kindness. l salute this man and those in our community who are making the lives of others a bit easier.
