Dear Editor: I wish I had a picture to go along with this letter. I was looking outside my window and saw two young boys in their teens delivering papers in the crazy cold February 12 on Martin Street. I went to my wallet as quickly as I could. then ran across the street and said, 'You two are amazing. I want to give you this tip for your commitment." Tne one looked at me in amazement and asked, 'really?'l said, ‘absolutely' and told them to keep it up. One was so taken aback that he looked at me with his huge blue eyes and asked ifl wanted a paper. (They don't deliver to my particular home). I said it wasn’t my purpose. He said he had an ex- tra, so I accepted his offer. I was so excited to see that dedication. Again, | wish I had a picture of them lugging their papers in a pulley in the bitter cold. But. suffice to say, I have that picture in my mind. It reminds me of when my son delivered and the times i joined him. Weneedtoopenoureyesandseethesemoâ€" ments. I think sometimes we’re too blind to the teens who do have the drive, because we're too focused on thinking they're a lazy generation. Anditmatterstoacknowledgethemwhenwe can, ifeven but with a small gesture, such as a tip. lt once was the mainstay of delivery when they hadtocollectButwithpapersbelngfree, they don't get that opportunity. lfyou see a teen delivering a paper, or wanting to shovel your driveway, l hopeyou open your heart and encourage them to keep going.
