Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) was recently recognized as Local Food Champions in the Broader Public Sector by the Ontario Greenbelt at the 201 5 Local Food Symposium in Niagara-on- the-Lake. The award recognized HHS and its Good For You, Locally Grown Food Services project for its innovative approach to adding more local food to hospital menus and successfully leading the way to create systemic changes in the public sector by increasing local food awareness. Enhancing the overall patient care experience, greening our facilities and improving the energy efficiency of our facilities are important to us. That is why HHS has embarked on an Energy and Facility Renewal Program in partnership with Honeywell. This program is focused on upgrading our building infrastructure, conserving energy, reducing operating costs and lowering environmental emissions; all contributing to an enhanced environment for our staff and the patients we serve. ‘ The proposed savings of this Energy & Facility Renewal Program across HHS will be approximately $193,000 per year.
