Larsen, Louis (Birthday: 85)
- Full Text
Next Sunday, February 7th, Mr. Louis Larsen, a resident of Grimsby for 50 years, will celebrate his 85th birthday. Still hale and hearty, he may be seen daily wending his way to town to enjoy the company of his old associates.
Coming to Canada from Denmark in 1882, he crossed to Omaha, Nebraska, where he married in 1887. After spending a few years in Denver, Colorado, he returned to Canada with his wife and two children in 1892, settling in Grimsby where he engaged in fruit farming.
After an absence of 48 years from his homeland, Mr. Larsen, accompanied by Mrs. Larsen, took a well-earned holiday voyage in 1930 to visit his old birthplace, Copenhagen (now in the hands of Adolf Hitler), and his brothers and sisters there.
Mr. Larsen has never had a serious illness or required medical assistance, for which he thanks the Lord daily. He has two sons and two daughters: Lester E., the well-known plumber, of Grimsby; Milly, Niagara Falls, Ont.; William and Annie, of Beverley Hills, Los Angeles. There are 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, all healthy and happy. Mrs. Larsen died 10 years ago.
In 1939 Mr. Larsen spent the winter with his son, William, in Los Angeles. He has been a subscriber to the Independent for some 40 years and looks forward to the pleasure of reading it each day.
