The Halton Region Business Development Centre also encourages new entrepreneurs who have started or will start a business in 2000 to see an accoun tant in the early stages of their business life. Setting up your records so that they are in line with Revenue Canada guidelines now, could save you a lot of time, effort and money next tax season. To help recent and aspiring entrepre neurs, the Halton Business Development Centre offers a program to assist them with basic start-up accounting and legal issues. Halton-area accountants and lawyers volunteer their time to offer a 45minute consultation through the Access to Professionals program. These consulta tions take place at the Halton Region Business Development Centre at 1151 Bronte Road in Oakville. There is a $20 administration fee for this program. Access to Professionals runs on the second Tuesday morning of every month. The next scheduled session is Tuesday, April 11th. Because it is tax time, there are two accountants available to take appoint ments in April. Peter Cross of Taylor Leibow (Burlington), and Jonathon Lowry of Durward Jones Barkwell & Co. (Burlington) will be available to meet with four clients each on April 11th. The lawyer for this month's session is John Paladino, a Barrister & Solicitor from Oakville. The name change was unanimously approved at a special membership meeting on March 1st. FirstOntario Credit Union Limited has an Oakville branch at 60 Lakeshore Rd. W. Applies to all 2 0 0 0 S 70 & V 7 0 Models Exporting seminar targets non-traditional markets Halton Region's Business Development Centre, in partner ship with the Oakville Chamber of Commerce, will be hosting an exporting seminar next month. `Seamless Exporting To Non-Traditional Markets' is sched uled to take place on Wed., April 26th, at the Halton Regional Centre, in the Glen Lawson/Mansewood Room. It will run from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and lunch will be provided. The cost per individual is $20, including GST. "The program is directed to small, medium and larger firms considering exporting to non-traditional markets, such as eastern European and developing countries," says Tony Khani, export development advisor for Halton Region. This is an existing program put together by a group of people from the export industry, including SGS, an international inspec tion company. EDC (Export Development Corporation), and trade commissioners from Industry Canada and Foreign Affairs. "We're launching the first one in Halton," says Khani, who is hopeful that if it is successful more will follow in partnership with other chambers of commerce within Halton Region.
