As Oakville's first raw pet food boutique, Meateaters is dedicated to educating owners about the importance of biologically appropriate diets for dogs and cats, and offers the perfect products to keep pets healthy. While the store opened at the end of 2015, storeowners began their personal experience with a raw food diet four years prior when they made the switch from a kibble-based diet to raw for their beloved Bulldog Lola. After several attempts to find long-term solutions to her reoccurring health ailments, they discovered a balanced raw meat diet and have never looked back. Raw food has shown immense health benefits for pets of any age and any breed, so whether you have a brand new puppy or kitten, or an adult pet, a raw food diet will help your animal to flourish. At Meateaters Raw Pet Food, a wide selection of raw proteins is offered. From well-known proteins such as chicken and lamb, to more exotic meats including kangaroo and rabbit, there is something that every pet will love. In addition to a variety of supplements and treats, naturally dehydrated "one ingredient" products like beef lung and liver are offered, which are well suited for pets with food allergies or intolerances. Currently offering the Big Country Raw, Pets 4 Life, and Ultimate Diet Organic food lines, there is selection not only in protein but also in brand and food format. Whether your preference is food that comes in a compressed patty, a loose pellet or pre-measured tubs, Meateaters gives you the option of choice. This summer Oakville residents can enjoy the option of free delivery for orders of more than $50 placed on the soonto-launch Meateaters e-commerce website. Located at 1026 Speers Rd. (at the corner of Fourth Line and Speers Road) Meateaters invites you to stop by and learn about the benefits of a raw food diet and the products available. Nestled in the newly developed community at Neyagawa Boulevard and Dundas Street, the clinic opened early in 2016 in response to the growth of the surrounding community. The team of veterinarians and registered veterinary technicians is able to provide many services that will help in the prevention and treatment of possible illness and injury that your pet may encounter. In addition to offering wellness examinations and basic care, advanced services are also available to ensure your pet is as healthy as possible. Sixteen Mile offers the latest radiology and ultrasound technology and has the equipment to provide digital x-rays for clients. Dental services can prevent and relieve your pet from oral discomfort, and all of Sixteen Mile's veterinarians have undergone additional training in veterinary dentistry and are able to treat a variety of conditions. For pets living with acute or chronic pain, inflammation and wound healing, the clinic's therapeutic laser can provide relief. "I really felt a need amongst pet owners to get that connection back with their veterinarian again," said Dr. Janice Honda, owner of Sixteen Mile Veterinary Clinic and South Side Pet Hospital, located in Burlington."We're here to get to know you and to get to know your pet and to really be an all life stages clinic. It's hard for some pet owners to ask the questions they need answered and to spend the time needed with their veterinarian when they book an appointment. We are structured to spend more time with fewer people and to give more individual care." By creating open relationships with clients, Dr. Honda, and her associate Dr. Natalie Trisch each have more than 20 years of experience and share a common goal of relationship building. They, along with the staff at Sixteen Mile really get to know their clients - both two-legged and four-legged and are able to create the best treatment for the pet. "Our goal has never been, and will never be to get a certain number of people into the clinic in a day," said Dr. Honda. "We will take the time to get to know you and your pet." Open Monday to Wednesday and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, Sixteen Mile Veterinary Clinic has a variety of appointment times to fit your scheduling needs.
