Monday, May 7 I 1990 pursuant to Notice published in newspapers having general ciruclation in the municipality at least 30 days before the date of the Public Meeting, as required by the Retail Business Holidays Act. Reeve Gordon Leadbeater chaired the meeting and declared the Public Meeting open. Those present Were requested to register by signing name and address. The Chairman announced that any person who attended this public meeting shall be permitted the opportunity to make representation in respect of the byâ€"law. Seven persons registered and 2 persons asked to be heard. Guy Laidlaw spoke in support of the passing of the by-law on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Shearer and described his clients retail operation in detail, in relation to Agricultural and Tourist activities in the community. Peter Vogelzang also asked to be heard and spoke of negative aspects fo holiday opening that he felt should be considered, altho he said he realized the passing of the byâ€"law was to legalize existing situations. Some discussion ensued between Mr. Laidlaw and Mr. Vogelzang. Following these 2 speakers, the Chairman asked if anyone else wished to speak. As there was no response, the Chairman then declared the Public Meeting terminated.
