8 NORTH LEEDS LANTERN ST. LUKE'S A.C.W. Seven members were present at the home of Bernice Landon for our March 2 meeting. The Lord's Prayer was said by all members. Invocation read by Hilda Talboys. The Scripture reading by Sally Stoner lCorinthians l:30-2.:Z. Meditation by Bernice. All joined in for the prayer. Sally Stoner reported that Shirley Jackson gave a donation for Easter flowers for St. Luke's church. Janet O'Meara gave a donation as well for the A.C.W. A collection was made for the United Thank Offering; this money should be in by April. Birthday dues were also collected. A thankâ€"you letter from Mrs. Margaret Wood was read. Roll call was the verse containing The word answered with of Scripture the word ”Spirit." for April is "Righteous." Sally is to speak with Rev. Boeger concerning an April meeting with members from St. John's and St. Peter's in connection with the spring rummage sale. The members were pleased to talk about the new microphones placed in St. Luke's church. We all enjoyed a penny auction and closing with the Grace. Lunch was served by Bernice. LYNDHURST U.C.W. Our U.C.W. meeting was held in the afternoon with eleven ladies answering the roll call. Ruth opened the meeting with a poem "Good News". Ruby Sweet's Devotional theme was "Lent." She opened with scripture reading from St. Luke Chapter 4. Hymn 148, "Breathe on me Breath of God," was sung. Ruby also had a reading, "The Cross for All to See,‘ then closed with prayer. Minutes were read and approved and the treasurer's report given. Offering was received and dedicated by Mary Townsend. Thankâ€"you notes were read and business taken care of. Plans were discussed to cater to a dinner for Superannuated Teachers to be held in mid April. Marion Warren gave a report on the Annual Presbyterial meeting held at Cookes-Portsmouth United Church on February 28. The theme was "Open our Eyes that we may See." Mary Townsend gave a report on stewardship. The meeting was adjourned, followed by benediction. A delicious lunch was served after. I. , .
