ST. PE’I‘ER'S ACW The June 6 meeting was held at the home of June Goodwins and Jean Rogers. The meeting opened with all members sharing in the reading of the Invocation, the Scriptures, the Meditation and the Prayer. A discussion followed. Roll call found 8 members present. Ann Morris read the treasurer's report. It was moved by Gail Moore, seconded by Etheleen Tye that an outstanding bill at Sweet's be paid. Ann Morris read a thankâ€"you letter from the Cancer Society. She also read an invitation to the opening ceremonies for the Soviet visitors at R.D.H.S. Elizabeth Tate reported on those ceremonies that she and Rita Jones attended. Gail Moore read the letter she is sending to our Foster Child. Etheleen is to write the next letter in a month‘s time. A discussion was held regarding the request to cater to the late evening lunch at Carol Sly's wedding. A committee will be set up to finalize the details. Etheleen brought up the point that we are in need of some new church linens. A discussion followed as to funding and alternate materials. The meeting closed with the ACW prayer and grace. Fische r 928-2783 LEEDS 4w-H'ERS GO FOR GOLD Lansdowne 4-H Dairy Club was victorious in the recent "4-H Go For The Gold" Competition held in Athens. The Lansdowne team, made up of Paul Thompson, Sarah F odey and Galen Countryman, beat out the Lyn 4â€"H Dairy Club in the final round for the opportunity to represent Leeds County at the Regional playâ€"offs being held at the Kemptville College on August 23. The "Go For The Gold" competition is the new name for the 4-H Reach For The Top. Each 4-H Club may enter a team and these teams compete in a quiz bowl type competition. Members must answer questions ranging from livestock nutrition and housing to general knowledge questions on agricultural topics to home crafts and economics. The runner-up team from Lyn was Shelly Johnston, Andrea Grendal, Rhonda Mallette and Rob Mallette. The Leeds 4-H Beef Team was third and the Athens 4-H Dairy Club was fourth.
