8 NORTH LEEDS LANTERN DECEMBER 1990 / ,. L/yn LYNDHURST U.C.W. Our President, Ruth Galway opened the meeting with a poem. Iva Sweet’s Devotional was on Changes. We sang Hymn 82 "Open My Eyes That I May See". Iva closed the Devotional with Prayer. There were 12 ladies in attendance. Correspondence was read and business discussed. We discussed having a Pot Luck Supper and exchanging gifts at our next meeting. Audrey Welch gave a report on the executive meeting and Mary Townsend gave a report on stewardship. Thailand will be recipients for the Bible in November. The meeting was adjourned, followed by Benediction. A lovely lunch was enjoyed by all. Audrey Welch gave the vote of thanks to all ladies who participated. Betty Moorhead SWEET'S CORNERS SCHOOL On Thursday, November 1, Sweet's Corners Elementary School held its annual Fun Night. Many families participated and once again the event was a great success. This event is the major fundraiser at the school. Because of the generosity of the staff and the community, we managed to raise over $2,000. This money will be used by the school to help fund field trips, purchase library books, new computer equipment or any other project that the students of Sweets Corners would benefit from. The community's response to this event has been really wonderful again this year and we would like to thank everyone for their support. Many volunteers gave of their time and energy to make things run smoothly and the staff, students and Home and School Association extends thanks to you all. Fun Night has become a wonderful evening for students, staff, parents and the community to get to know each other and to have a good time. Next year, we will NOT hold it the day after Hallowe'en! On the 18th and the 20th of December, Sweet's Corners will host Christmas dinners. The children may bring their grandparents, or an "adopted grandparent" to share a sit down ham dinner. We hope that many of our community's senior citizens will be able to attend. We promise you an afternoon of great service, terrific food and musical entertainment. Again we would like to thank everyone for their support. What a great community we have! Mary Peppard 7!. I LEEDS GRENVILLE AREA A.C.w.
