President, lrma Chant opened with prayer and gave each member a warm welcome. The purpose was repeated in unison. The roll call resulted in 6 home and 5 hospital visits. The theme of the Devotional, given by Edith Woods was "The Gospel and the Flag". Scriptures were read from Jer: 4: 13-18. Onward Christian Soldiers was sung, afterwhich a prayer for Peace was given. Betty Henderson collected the offering which was dedicated by Emily Lester. Birthday money and our Fun Project was received also. Minutes of the October meeting and Irene Goodsell's Treasurer's report were read and accepted. A Minute for Missions was given. "Gospel Culture" - Where do we get our values? - was the topic chosen by Irene Goodsell for today's program and will be continued in January 1991. Scriptures were read from John 1:1 and Luke 4: 16â€"21. A very interesting question and answer period was held. We were then reminded of our Christmas verses to be read at our December meeting at the home of Edna Willard. The Mizpah benediction was repeated. With Joan Molaro, our hostess, pouring tea and Leera Raison and Vivian Morris serving lunch, the ladies hadan enjoyable time of fellowship. Emily Lester gave the Courtesy. BEVERLEY SENIORS The Beverley Seniors Club visited the Lyndhurst Seniors Club in October and were treated to a nice dinner. After dinner we were entertained by Charley and Mrs. Cross of Lansdowne on the piano and saxaphone. A singâ€"song was led by Russel Edgely and Rita Hollester performed a hilarious solo skit on the stage. All and all a very enjoyable afternoon. Our meeting was held on November 16. Leta Burt reported on a Seminar for rural women she attended in Smith Falls on October 31, 1990 and Peter Breedyk reported on a Zone meeting, Eastern Sector, held in Cardinal on November 5. The meeting was well attended and was followed by a successful Bazaar. The members contributed generously, there was a table for crafts and a table of baked goods, which were sold in short order. Almost everybody stayed for a social tea, which was set up in the back of the Legion Hall. For the members we have a free bus ride to Kingston on December 4 for Christmas shopping. On December 14 we will enjoy our annual free Christmas dinner followed _by entertainment. Because the 3rd Friday, our normal meeting date, is so close to Christmas, we will have no meeting this month. Peter Breedyk **A GREAT BIG DELTA W Gearing up for the l6lst. Fair Upon conducting their Annual Meeting on October 27th, the Delta Agricultural Society has begun making plans for the 1991 Fair. A Board of 2.1 elected Directors will organize the event which will be held on Monday, July 29th. through to Wednesday July 3lst. 1991. Officers elected for the 161st. Fair include President, Gordon French; lst. Vice-President, Richard Leeson; 2nd. Vice-President, Chuck Galway; Secretary, William Morris; and Treasurer, Francis French. Two additional members were elected as Honourary Directors in recognition of their years of long, dedicated service. They were Roanld Morris and Alma White. DELTA 4â€"H CLUB The local 4â€"H Club in Delta has once again started a course for young people, this time in etiquette. These meetings are held at Alana Kitson‘s home; eleven members attended. The meetings run for two hours each, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday nights. The members and leaders have been discussing various forms of etiquette from formal dinners to supper at home. And last, but not least the Delta Volunteer Firefighter' 5 Association would like to thank all of the bingo players. Over the period of the 27 hours. in excess of 250 people played 403 games of bingo. Congratulations and thank you to all of those dedicated bingo players. w- The meeting on November 8 opened with the Ode and Mary Stuart Collect. Roll call was answered by showing a craft item made by each member. Eight members from this branch attended the area convention held in the hall at Fredricksburg Township. The Girl Guides are using our hall for meetings because it is central for them. Shirley Wilson conducted the rest of the meeting, asking those who attended to make either mitts or slippers, they will be shown at our December 13 meeting when we will be entertaining Shane's Women's Institute. A delicious lunch was served by Betty Davison and Phyliss Connell. PHILIPSVILLE OUTREACH M5 Our November 1, meeting was well attended and as usual the hall and tables were well decorated. Mrs. Haywood was at the piano for a sing song. Anna Greenhorn said Grace. Lester Halliday had the marked plate and gifts were distributed to those with birthdays. Beside each plate was a small book of turkey recipes. Guesc speaker, Susan Noakes of Delta was dressed as Mr. Denault in clothes made from early patterns, and looking as he appears in the Delta Mill. Susan also presented a slide programme which was thoroughly enjoyed. For the December 6 dinner, we ask everyone to bring their own containers for take out meals; we hope to avoid using plastic and Styrofoam containers.We do not want anyone to miss dinner - so i f you E Eoiet you will be served. HARLEM CHANTRY U.C.W. Marjorie Emmons was hostess for Harlemâ€"Chantry U.C.W. meeting on Tuesday, November 6th, at Mill Bay Court, in Portland with 16 members and guests answering the roll call with a verse on the theme "Peace". Clara Townsend, President for the month thanked the hostess, welcomed the members and guests and opened the meeting with Prayer. Nancy Wykes conducted the worship service. Edith Bolton was guest speaker and gave a very inspiring message. Minutes, correspondence and business were dealt with. Programs for 1 9 9 1 were distributed. Eight home and 4 hospital calls were made and 11 books were read. Hymn "Peace Perfect Peace" was sang and the meeting closed with Benediction. Refreshments and social hour were enjoyed.
