Mulvale said that Oakville Transit has already been proactive in dovetailing its service with that of GO Transit, but is always improving ways to get commuters to take local transit to the train station. Also on Friday the GTSB signed an accord calling on the federal and provincial governments for long-term and stable funding for the transportation network in the GTA and Hamilton-Wentworth. The accord warns that ongoing road congestion problems will increase, thereby negatively affecting the region's com petitiveness in the global economy. The document calls for a better balance between tax revenues raised in the area and transportation spending there. The accord marks the first step in establishing a funding strategy to support the GTSB's Strategic Transportation Plan for the GTA and Hamilton-Wentworth. Lettefs requesting meetings were also sent to the prime minister and Ontario premier, as well as the federal Minister of Transportation and their provincial counterpart.
