Local Option and Business lnteresls. We may assume that the business men pay three-fifths of the taxes, or $150 of the decreased revenue. Of the ten thouâ€" sand dollars or more per annum usually spent over the bars by their customers, the business men will surely receive more than one thousand dollars of the savings, and the profit from this will make up the loss in taxes. The experi- ence of business men in towns where local option is in force is far better than this. Business men can not afl‘ord to lose this opportunity. We appeal to them for their support at the polls. Bar-rooms and fileralily We need not tell you that the moral standard of the bar-room is away down below zero. We need not tell you that the regular customers of the bar-room are not receiving benefits which will help them in the serious responsibility of trainlng their children for good citi- zenship. We need not tell you that the influence of the bar-room does not help to make men kind husbands or consid- erate providers for the needs of their families. We appeal to the men who patronize the bar-rooms to think scri- ously over these problems, and we be~ lievc if they allow their better judgment to prevail many of them will be ready to help us to carry the Local Option by- law at the polls on January 3rd.
