The church was I ‘ most beautifully decorated, and the ‘1 music was splendid. The people are to be congratulated on the success achieved. Miss Hannah Ellery is still in Winnipeg. Dr. Gould returned on Tuesday from Toronto. where he had been for a week superintending the erection of dwelling houses on his properties in the Dover- court section of the city. .Miss Rebecca Ellery of the Salvation Army is home for a winter's rest. Rev.W. H. A. French returned on Tues- day from a two weeks visit to friends in Napanee and vicinity. Mr. E. Mr. Jas. Dickson and family returned last week from their summer home at Rosedale. They were accompanied by Miss Wills, who leaves this week for a visit to friends at Bobcaygeon. M r. and Mrs.Wm. Kcast Were in Lind- I." having another ballot taken, which gave Mr. Douglas a majority. There were sixteen candidates nominated, of whom nine went to ballot. The Camrose Canadian, in its account of the proceedings, says : “ The fight put up by Mr. Dennis Two- mey, of Camrose, compelled the admira- tion of every delegate present. There were in all nine ballots taken. In eight of these Mr. Twomey headed the poll. Ilis support came from every corner of the constituencyâ€"from Strathcona, Le- duc, Wetaskiwin and from his own coun- try to the cast. He proved himself a good fighter and even a better loser. There was the ring of true manliness in the whole-hearted way in which he moved the unanimous nomination of Mr. Douglas and asked all his supporters who had so nobly stood by him to throw the same energy into the election of the winning candidate. Mr. Twomey’s ac- tion, in the face of the questionable fairness of the final ballot, was all the more to be admired. But, however this may be, the candidate, M r. Douglas, fought. a fair light and we believe he will make a creditable repres- entative. It is more than likely that his election will be allowed to go by accla- mation and our best wishes are with & pi v VENEER VfiNAVNN v ' a I. _-<_!:.4«:.’-‘-'â€"¢,4‘ . I w ‘55.
