The Town and the union signed a memorandum of agreement on Feb. 22, according to a statement released by the Town on Thursday. The union and council ratified the agreement at their respective meetings Monday night. The new collective agreement is in effect from Feb. 16, 2016 to Feb. 15, 2019 and provides members with wage increases of 1.5 per cent in each of the three years. CUPE Local 136 represents 275 full-time and temporary employees, who are skilled in various trades and provide key services in maintaining the Town's facilities, parks, roads and vehicles. Town staff said the Town remains committed to renewing collective agreements that are fair and reasonable to employees and residents.
