The event, which features $5,600 up for grabs, will see ticket sales used to provide protection and care for the pets and wildlife in OMHS care. The humane society is hoping to raise between $13,000 and $15,000. "In any given year we care for more than 1,000 sick, injured, abused and neglected animals in the Oakville and Milton area," said Helena Thompson, event coordinator for fund development with OMHS. "We also investigate and prosecute animal abuse and neglect and promote animal welfare and responsible pet ownership through humane education," continued Thompson. The OMHS is a registered charity that relies on donations from the community to carry out this work.
