Both programs will provide support to assist traditional manufacturers transform into more innovative, dynamic and productive companies. "The Advanced Manufacturing Consortium will be an industry and academic collaboration," Wynne said. "It will focus on long-term innovation projects, such as additive manufacturing, and that's the process I noted is used to build 3D objects, and it will help Ontario to maintain a place, and build a place, as a leader in manufacturing." The initiatives are part of the province's Business Growth Initiative Strategy, which commits $400 million over the next five Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne (centre) was in Oakville Tuesday (March 22) to announce to the Canadian Manufacturers & Explorers (CME) Industry 2030 Summit the Province will invest $40 million in two advanced manufacturing programs. It's an investment in capital, but it's also an investment in people, Wynne said. "Our government continues to make the necessary investments to strengthen Ontario's reputation as a leader in the global knowledge economy and create the highly-skilled jobs of tomorrow." "By driving innovation in advanced manufacturing, we are reinforcing our position as one of the best places in the world to do business -- now and in the future." Ontario Labour Minister and Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn accompanied Wynne as she made the announcement to CME's national board in a closed session. Afterward, in a media session, Flynn said discussions had been productive in airing out issues and allowing the manufacturing community input on government policy. "I think the premier has demonstrated she is a person that knows how to listen," he said. "When you get a group like this that comes from across the country, I don't think they come to hear a speech. They're interested in what the governments are doing, but this is an opportunity for them to actually come here and give their ideas...." On how the investment would impact Oakville, Flynn said this town has become the "manufacturing community of choice." People like to live here and have moved their company headquarters to Oakville, he said, listing firms, like Ford Motor Company of Canada, IPEX Management Inc. and SNCLavalin International, among others that were at the table, because they also sit on the CME board and are active in providing a voice for the manufacturing industry in Canada. "You know you're not just talking about an Ontario economy or Canadian economy -- Oakville is a microcosm of that economy," he noted. "A place like Oakville can draw a lot from a meeting like this because it represents our community at-large," Flynn added. no name® bacon selected varieties limit 4, $5.29 after limit 2 1 500 g Cooked Shrimp or Raw Shell On Shrimp 36/45 count per lb frozen 97 WOW g 300 ! 3 g 97 HUGE SAVINGS 20-75% off 275 Hays Blvd. · 289-725-8880 (corner of Trafalgar and Dundas) Store Closing · Inventory Liquidation 300 Armstrong Cheese 97 WOW selected varieties !
