Kevin Sinclair is marking his fourth year as captain and assuming assistant captain duties are Daniel Ringwald, Mario Mancuso and Jeff Nabeta. Returning forw ards Mark Harris, Craig Shimoda, Nabeta, Sinclair, Kyle MacDonald and Mark Irish have been joined by Corey Halyk, Mark Mclsaac and Tyler Wood. O akville 5, A ncaster 2 (Oct. 16): although Ancaster scored just second into the game, Oakville responded well against the defending tri-county champi ons, quickly countering and then taking the lead on a goal with just five seconds left in the first period. Grueling schedule includes four games in seven days - three on the road Playing four league games in sdven days, three being on the road, kept the Oakville novice AAA Rangers very busy this past week. Monday October 29th saw the team travel to Niagara Falls for the first time this year. The host Canucks jumped to an early 1-0 lead before the boys took con trol and scored three straight goals for a 3-1 victory. Although the victory was a total team effort, honourable mention goes to goalie Steven Pezzente, who played an outstanding game between the pipes and Nicholas Kashty who scored a beautiful goal on a determined effort. Memories were then made on Thursday November 1st, when the team played Stoney Creek Icebreakers in Hamilton at Copps Coliseum. For some of the players, this was the first time in their young hockey careers playing in a `professional' setting where some of their NHL heroes played the game, and the joy was evident in their faces. All the players participated in the game and did themselves proud even though the Icebreakers won the game 43. One Oakville goal was a picture per fect affair as Braeden Corbeth and Brett Lee, passing the puck among each other, skated towards the Icebreaker net where Corbeth scored on a perfect shot from a perfect pass. Another perfect shot was made by Brent Stevenson who scored his goal by blasting the puck by the goalie from in front of the net. The team played a home game Saturday November 3 against the Halton Hurricanes. Despite having an early chance to score in the opening minutes, the Rangers could not duplicate the effort from then on. Halton took control of the game and had numerous scoring chances, only to be stopped by goalie Christopher Miniaci, who played a remarkable game. The visitors did man age to score twice and thus earned a 2-0 victory. Defenseman Mike Morris was select ed the Kenesky Sports' Home Player of the game. Sunday November 4th had the team playing in Burlington against the host Eagles. After two periods the game remained scoreless. Then in the third period, the teams traded goals before Burlington scored three unanswered goals, giving them the 5-3 victory. The Rangers' goals were scored by Zach Ruys, one of them being assisted by Brett Lee who made an accurate pass from behind the net. After the game the Rangers had a draw for a pair of Maple Leaf hockey tickets generously donated by Central Technology Services Corporation, a team sponsor. The lucky winner was Dylan Cooper. Three-game stint against league' s best Here's the recent action for the Oakville Rangers novice AA rep team. The Rangers completed a three-game stint against some of the toughest teams in the league. On Oct. 19, against a FlamborOugh team that hadn't lost in 37 games, Oakville blasted out to a 4-0 first period lead and then held on for a 4-2 win. Flamborough added their two goals in the final two min utes. Scoring for Oakville was Andrew Smith, Jordan Herman, Aaron Heffelfinger and Patrick Brown. Assists went to Adrian Parisotto, Adam Davis, AJ Wood and Josh Wile. Adrian Parisotto scored the winning goal in a 3-2 win over Orangeville Flyers on Oct. 21. Also adding single markers were Ryan MacGillivary and AJ Wood. Assists went to Daniel Taveres, Jordan Herman and Paterson Farrell. All good things must come to an end and Oakville were beaten 7-3 by Stoney Creek Bruins on Oct. 23. Goals were scored by Paterson Farrell, Jordan Herman and AJ Wood. Back on the winning track with a pair of weekend wins The he Oakville Rangers atom AAA rep reo team continued on the winning track with a pair of weekend wins. After a spirited Sunday morning (Nov. 4) practice, the Rangers were near perfect with a late afternoon 7-1 victory over visiting Guelph Storm. The Rangers gave up the opening goal but then roared back. Jonathan Brand and Tyler Stothers led the scoring parade with a pair each while single markers were added by Patrick Chiasson, Steven Guzzo and Patrick Marsh. Assists went to Mark Borcsok (3), Chiasson (2), Marsh (2), Max Mihaichuk, Matthew Lorito, Tyler Stothers and Adam Dimarco. On Saturday (Nov. 3), Oakville broke open a 1-1 tie to defeat Welland 4-1. Goals were scored by Patrick Marsh, Tyler Stothers, Matt Lorito and Steve Guzzo. Assists went to Tyler Stothers (2), Patrick Marsh (2), Max Mihaichuk, Steven Guzzo, Jake Legein and Patrick Readshaw. It was an even til tilt for a good part of the first two periods, but after falling behind by two goals the Rangers couldn't keep up. Matthew Lorito ruined the shutout, assisted by Tyler Stothers. Despite giving up five goals -- four by one player -- David Clement played a strong game for the Rangers. On Saturday, Oakville hosted the Stoney Creek Icebreakers expecting a high scoring game as the two teams exploded for a 6-6 tie in their previous encounter. Eatough and Molfetta score in 2-1 win as team rebounds from tough loss The Oakville Hornets atom A rep team lost a close 2-1 decision on Oct. 19 to a Scarborough team which earned a provincial bronze medal last year. The Hornets actually took a 1-0 lead but the host Scarborough team tied it up at 1-1 with only five minutes remaining. With less than three minutes remain ing, the Hornets took a penalty and, with Scarborough pulling their goalie, could not prevent the go-ahead marker. O akville's Genevieve Panabaker opened up the scoring when Melanie Johnson sent her streaking past Scarborough's defence with a pin-point rink wide pass. The girls rebounded on Oct. 20 with a 2-1 win over Etobicoke Dolphins. O akville went up 2-0 on goals by Meghan Eatough and Alyssa Molfetta. Assists went to Molfetta and Chelsea Young.
