They open their schedule away against Neil McNeil on November 15 and are at home to Cardinal Newman November 19. The St. Robert‘s Catholic High School Junior soccer team showed it was a force to be reckoned with on the weekend galloping right to the finals in the Newmarket All Ontario Junior Cup Tournament. It was their first ap pearance in the highly- rated tournament and they opened with an overtime 1-0 triumph over Emery College thanks to a fine shot by Mike Rietta which beat the goalie cleanly. The win boosted St. Robert‘s into the semi- finals against Lord Elgin High School of Burlington and they won this one 2-0 on the strength of P010 Gullo. He scored both goals. They then went into the finals against powerful George Vanier of North York in a hard-fought. Sometimes Chippy contest which saw Vanier win- ning it 2-1. “A lot of people hadn't even heard of St. Robert‘s before the tournament," commented Crusher‘s coach Bruno Revere. “They know about us now." The St. Robert's Senior girls basketball team also Earlier in the week the same team had romped to its fourth straight victory via a 7-0 cakewalk over Richmond Hill High. St. Robert’s dominated the game to such an extent they only allowed the opposition one shot on the net. Paul Durigon led the onslaught with four goals with singles to Gullo, Adriano Scomesse, and Sam Foti. Basketball came up big with a crushing 51-23 triumph over Langstaff Secondary School of Richmond Hill. Sandy MacDonald. Linda Westermann, and Pat Conlin dominated the game particularly con- trolling the backboards on rebounds. Conlin had 10 points. Westermann 12. MacDonald, 10, and Saskia Vriend dropping in 14. , St. Robert's kept rolling in the next game this time dumping Bayview Secondary School 52-23 after leading 30-8 at the halfway point. Tourney St. Robert‘s will be the host to the York County Volleyball Tournament today (Wednesday). Thursday and Friday. It gets underway at 11 am. Wednesday with the Midgets competing followed Thursday by the Juniors at 11 am The Seniors go Friday mor- ning at 10 am. The finals will be held Friday night at 7 pm. with the lxlidgets followed by the Ju iors at 8 pm. and the Seniors at 9 Again it was Wester- mann and Conlin dominating the back- boards and Vriend doing the scoring with 15 points.
