Dec. 4th Richvale school is holding Open House. The teachers will be at the school from 7:30â€"9:00. A birthday party was held for Mr. V. Condor of Grayenhurst at the Blackburns Saturday evening. Mrs. Earl Lambert of Yongeâ€" hurst Rd. has been on the sick list for the past two weeks but seems to be on the mend now. David Davenport of Pembenon Rd. underwent a tonsilectomy operation at Newmarket Hospital on Thursday, Nov. 27th. David is coming along nicely. Donna Wainwright and Beverley Bourgard presented Miss Bryson of Richvl-‘e school with a cake on Friday on the occasion of her birthday. Miss Bryson was both surprised and pleased and many of the children remembered her with cards and small gifts. A speedy recovery is wished for Denton Brumwell who has the chickenâ€"pox. Mr. and Mrs. Charles James and David of Stouï¬ville had Sunday evening dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Johnson. The W.M.S. and W.A. held a joint meeting Wednesday evening of last week at the home of Mrs. Stanley DeFoe, when over 40 lad- ies were present. Mrs. Clarence Stong of Edgeley gave an inspir- ing address on “Disciplineâ€. Mrs. H. McIntosh and Miss Coral Per- kins sang a duet, Mrs. Walker gave the scripture reading. and Mrs. Earl Empringham gave the Les- son Thoughts and Prayer. Re- freshments brought the meeting to a close. Sheila's grandparents were sorry to hear that most of her personal trousseau was stolen by one of' the meanest thieves of the year. when the bride and groom left their car for a short visit at the home of Mr. Lawrence’s par- ents. Presentation The recent heavy rains, though causing a little inconvenience, have really been beneficial in ma‘ny ways. Plowing, which had ‘formerly been difficult. has soft- ened up for those belated folk who are not finished: and wells are reported filling up. There had previously been reports of residents in the surrounding areas having to “buy†water, but it is hoped that is over for the time being. everyone suitably, and the evéh: ing came to a close with a sump- tuous lunch which included ice- cream. About sixty friends and neighâ€" bours met at the home of Mr, and Mrs. William Wellman re- cently to do honour to Melvin and his wife, the former Elsa Marshall. Although the welcome was rather belated. it was none the less sincere, as was evidenc- ed by the gift of a handsome table model radio. of the type with an electric clock, and a lovely white chenille bedspread. The presentation speech was read by Elmer Leek and the Melvin and his wife thanlmd (ï¬eld from last week) Recently Mr. and Mrs. Allan Wellman left by car to drive to Regina, to visit Mrs. Wellman's 'family there. Mrs. Masding had suffered a stroke recently, but is now home from hospital and doing as well as could be ex- pected. An Elation cow, also entered by Summit Farms, was the Best of the Ontario cows and took third prize when two wes- tern cows won ï¬rst and second prizes for best cows in the show.
